To be blunt, there are so many things that are needed for college. From textbooks to parking passes to laptops and coffee, you pretty much need whatever you can get to stay sane. I learned fairly quickly that there are 3 holy grail items that I cannot live without. College would be much harder for me personally if I did not purchase these items…
Headphones are a big one for me. There is nothing worse than walking into the library with the mindset that you’ll be there for a while and then a) reaching into your bag and realizing you forgot your headphones or b) walking into the library, hearing loud talking and wishing you had a pair of headphones to cover-up the noise of what is supposed to be a quiet library.
I use my headphones at all times during studying, this is just the type of person I am so this might not work for you if you get distracted singing to your favourite songs. However, they are my holy grail and help me stay in-the-zone and concentrate for multiple hours.
I am also a music junkie, so I am someone who will listen to music whenever I get the chance to; and the quality on these headphones just makes listening to music SO MUCH BETTER. So, I highly suggest purchasing these if you’re going to invest in a pair: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/beats-by-dr-dre-solo3-on-ear-sound-isolating-bluetooth-headphones-satin-silver/13018409
Remember in high-school when it was almost forbidden to bring in any type of technology? Yeah, well… It is completely different in college. If anything, now, it is encouraged to bring your laptop in to help learn, follow along with lessons, and complete assignments. A laptop is truly the #1 item I could not live without during college. I would feel lost going to a lecture without my laptop.
I use my laptop for studying purposes, taking notes, access my course contents, write exams and assignments, talk to my friends, manage my calendar, complete homework, listen to music, work etc. the list could really go on. A laptop is an item that I feel is actually crucial for college, at least nowadays since I know college can obviously be completed without one (as the older folks say).
In my opinion, the best laptop for me that meets all of my preferences is a MacBook Pro. Laptops are expensive and Apple laptops may not be the best if you aren’t looking to burn a hole in your pocket. However, for me my MacBook was one of the best things I have ever invested in. Especially since I am Apple savvy and own a gazillion products by them that correspond nicely with each other.

Amazon Prime for Students Account
Let me just say… it may sound ridiculous but Amazon Prime for Students has/and still does change my life. Not just my personal, but for school as well. Amazon Prime for Students has so many benefits it is ridiculous (in a good way).
For the first 6 months you get it for free, plus, you receive two-day FREE shipping on over 50 million items. After 6 months you receive Prime deals for 50% off. Which is dangerous because there is an extensive amount of options on Amazon that are listed for great prices.
Amazon is a holy grail because I get discounts off textbooks, technology needed for school, and office supplies. On the site there is a whole page dedicated to university/college necessities where you can find common items that students have purchased or are highly regarded by students and teachers. I live on this page to be honest, and it is so useful for school when I need something in bulk, or right away.
There is even same-day shipping for free, and one-day shipping which is extremely beneficial if I need an item by a certain time for a project, presentation, assignment etc. Amazon Prime for Students is definitely a holy grail, and overall just a great platform to invest in. https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Student/b?ie=UTF8&node=668781011
Overall, these are my specific holy grails for items to purchase for college because these are the ones that benefit me on a daily basis and I really don’t think I could live without them. However, that’s just me! All of these items are useful for college and help you like I said, stay a little bit saner during the crazy rollercoaster of college.
